Meitner is available in English. This article shows how to switch your own language, what stays in Swedish, and how to get help in English.
Meitner is available in English
Meitner comes in two languages, Swedish and English. Swedish is the default.
The language is set per person. You choose your own, and nothing changes for anyone else.
Guardians, students and staff can all use Meitner in English. It works both in a browser at https://app.meitner.se and in the Meitner app.
Switch your language to English
Before you sign in
The sign-in pages have their own language selector. Choose English there and the sign-in flow switches straight away.
When you are signed in
- Sign in at https://app.meitner.se, or open the Meitner app.
- Select your avatar in the top right corner.
- Choose Preferences.
- The language setting sits at the top of the page. Choose English.
The change applies immediately, so you do not need to reload the page.
Your choice is saved on your account. It follows you when you sign in on another computer or phone.
Only your own view changes. Your child, your teachers and your colleagues keep the language they have chosen for themselves.
Please do not use a translation tool on Meitner
Chrome, Edge and Safari may offer to translate the page for you. We recommend that you switch language inside Meitner instead. There are three reasons.
- It can break the page. Automatic translation rewrites the text after the page has loaded. Buttons, menus and dialogs may stop working, or text may appear twice.
- The words stop matching. Machine translation invents its own wording for Swedish school terms. What you read then does not match what your school and our support call the same thing.
- It can send information to a third party. Some translation tools and browser extensions send the text on the page to an outside service. Meitner holds personal data about children, so we advise against it.
If your browser offers to translate app.meitner.se, choose the option never to translate this site.
What is still in Swedish
Switching language changes Meitner's own interface. It does not translate what people have written.
- Anything your school writes stays as written, for example messages, assignments, plans, documentation, and the names of groups and classes.
- Most articles in this Help Centre are only available in Swedish today.
If you need help with something written in Swedish, ask your school, or contact us and we will help you in English.
How to get help in English
Start with your school
Your school decides what goes into Meitner. Contact the school about absence, grades, groups, schedules, and anything a member of staff has written. We cannot change that for you.
Contact Meitner support
Contact us about the product itself, for example if you cannot sign in, the app will not open, or something looks broken.
Write your request in English through the form at https://support.meitner.se/hc/en-gb/requests/new. Tell us what you did, what happened, and which device and browser you use.

Frequently asked questions
I switched to English but some text is still in Swedish
That text was written by your school, or it is a Help Centre article that only exists in Swedish. Meitner does not translate what people write, only its own interface.
Can our school set English for everyone?
No. The language belongs to each account, and there is no school wide setting. Everyone who wants English changes it in their own preferences.
Which languages can I choose?
Swedish and English. No other languages are available.
I can't find the language setting
Check that you are on the preferences page, which you open from your avatar in the top right corner. If the setting is still missing, contact us through the form at https://support.meitner.se/hc/en-gb/requests/new.
Will the Meitner app be in English as well?
Yes. The setting is saved on your account, so it applies in the app and in the browser.
Does English change anything for my child or for the school?
No. Only your own view changes.
